talkEHR is a cloud-based EHR for independent medical practices. It includes clinical charting, practice management, medical billing, and telehealth, all accessible via a web browser.

The platform is owned by CareCloud and holds ONC-ATCB certification for Meaningful Use Stage 3, meeting federal interoperability standards and supporting participation in MACRA/MIPS value-based payment programs.

Specialty fit

talkEHR supports a wide range of specialties, including family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and more, using over 70 pre-built, editable workflow templates. It works for solo providers and multi-provider practices alike. There's no cap on the number of users or patients, which gives growing practices room to scale without hitting arbitrary limits.

Key features

  • Voice-driven charting: talkEHR's optional voice recognition engine (built on the Google Voice framework) lets providers dictate notes directly into patient charts. You can also use a keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen.
  • Patient charts: Patient histories, lab results, documents, and encounter notes are all stored in the cloud and accessible from any device with internet access. There's no server to maintain and no software to update locally.
  • Customisable templates: As aforementioned, talkEHR has more than 70 specialty-specific templates. Practices can use them as-is, modify them, or build their own from scratch to match how they actually document care.
  • Integrated telehealth: Telehealth is built into the charting workflow rather than added as a bolt-on. Providers can launch virtual visits directly from a patient's chart.
  • Lab and imaging connectivity:talkEHR integrates with major labs and imaging centres, including LabCorp and Quest, at no additional cost.
  • Practice management: Scheduling, appointment management, eligibility verification, and collections are all included.
  • Patient engagement via talkPHR: Patients can access their own health records through the companion talkPHR app. From there, they can view lab results, request prescription refills, message their provider, make payments, and book appointments.
  • Medical billing: Practices can handle billing themselves using talkEHR's integrated tools, or outsource it to talkEHR's RCM team. The service covers claim submission, denial management, payment posting, and claims follow-up. If you'd prefer to use a third-party billing vendor, you can export the necessary files and submit externally.
